Cuisine American
Servings 10 cookies

Ingredients

  • 114 grams salted butter at room temperature
  • 110 grams brown sugar packed
  • 60 grams white granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon milk powder
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 250 grams plain flour
  • 2 tablespoons cornflour/cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 300 grams quality chocolate
  • sprinkling flaky sea salt

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 175°C/350°F and line a baking tray with baking/parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugars until light and fluffy.
  • Add in the milk powder, egg, egg yolk and vanilla extract beating until well combined.
  • Add the flour, cornflour/cornstarch and baking powder into the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  • Fold in the chocolate until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  • Using a spoon, scoop out approximately 90g of the cookie dough into a large ball onto the prepared baking tray (the trick is to have a high cookie I like having two cookie dough balls on top of each other), leaving plenty of space between each cookie.
  • Sprinkle with flaky sea salt.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are still slightly soft.
  • Remove from the oven and allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before gently moving to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For this recipe, I used 160g chopped Twix, and the rest was assorted chocolate I had on hand.  I would normally use chopped Whittaker's chocolate.
For the filming of this recipe, I didn't use flakey salt as I normally would in this recipe.
