How to make NYC Cookies…
The Secret to NYC Cookies:
What sets NYC cookies apart from the rest? It’s all about the perfect balance of textures and flavors. These chunky thicc cookies have a golden exterior with a soft, center packed with chocolate chunks, for this recipe I used a mixture of chocolate including (My secret ingredient) chopped Twix Bars, left over Easter mini eggs, chocolate chips and chopped Whitakkers chocolate.
This recipe is so adaptable you can add a mix of chocolate and walnuts like the classic NYC cookie recipe and sprinkle with flaky sea salt. Just imagine eating one of this cookies out of a paper bag walking through the streets of the Big Apple (goals!).

NYC Chocolate Chip Cookies
Ingredients
- 114 grams salted butter at room temperature
- 110 grams brown sugar packed
- 60 grams white granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon milk powder
- 1 large egg
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 250 grams plain flour
- 2 tablespoons cornflour/cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 300 grams quality chocolate
- sprinkling flaky sea salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 175°C/350°F and line a baking tray with baking/parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugars until light and fluffy.
- Add in the milk powder, egg, egg yolk and vanilla extract beating until well combined.
- Add the flour, cornflour/cornstarch and baking powder into the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
- Using a spoon, scoop out approximately 90g of the cookie dough into a large ball onto the prepared baking tray (the trick is to have a high cookie I like having two cookie dough balls on top of each other), leaving plenty of space between each cookie.
- Sprinkle with flaky sea salt.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are still slightly soft.
- Remove from the oven and allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before gently moving to a wire rack to cool completely.
